Before
going for AISEC internship in Sri Lanka I have ever thought that it is possible
to fall in love with people and places during only six weeks which I spent
there. I still remember my first day when I arrived at the airport at 5 a.m.
and I was picked up by Daniru, my Buddy. I was both: really tired after almost
30 hours of traveling and very excited about the new experience which was still
in front of me on that time.
I
was doing a photography internship with EPs from different countries such are
Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Russia and Taiwan. What is connected with that
I was shocked by the fact that despite or maybe thank to cultural diversity we
were able to create the best team I have ever worked and spent time with. When
it comes to Sri Lankan culture, it was my first trip to Asian country, so I was
delighted by everything! I loved traveling by tuk-tuk and I even got used to spicy
food which normally I can’t stand. After
almost one month I still have so many days and moments in my mind. I remember climbing Adam’s Peak, how
exhausted I felt after we reached the top of the mountain and how unforgettable
experience it was for us as a team to made it together.
My
time in Sri Lanka not only gave me a chance to improve my photography skills
but first of all made me a culturally sensitive person. It taught me to be
determined and believe much more in people than it was before. Working with
international EPs and AISEC members inspired me to continue to take the time
for my personal development.
Thank
to all wonderful people who I met in Sri Lanka, AIESEC Colombo North became and
will always be my Asian home. I hope one day I will have an opportunity to come
back there and experience those breathtaking moments again.
