Days in Sri
Lanka are one of the best memories in my life. It’s really a life-changing experience
to me with lots of my “first time.” Traveling abroad along, living with friends
from different countries, having food with not the tableware but right hand,
water rafting, having cocktail in the pub, chasing by the bees, riding elephant,
taking the tutuks or the crazy buses ……, all the things are fresh to me and interesting.
By the project, I have the chance to visit so many tourism spots in Sri Lanka.
Beautiful beaches, amazing wild, sacred temples, majestic sceneries……, it’s
hard to write down all the things we saw or did in the trip, and with my poor
memory, I can only remember some names of the places we’ve been.
Through this project, I got the
chance to visit Sri Lanka, this I was totally unfamiliar country, and also the
chance to know the culture of my dear friends from Australia, Switzerland,
Czech Republic, Germany, Russia and Poland. For me, the communication between
different cultures is the impressive point in the project. No matter where we
are from, which mother language we speak, which color we are, these differences
won’t be a problem for us to become friends. We are unique and special in each
other’s eye not only our characteristics but also these differences. Besides, I
learn to appreciate and live how the locals do to enjoy
the culture in Sri Lanka. I think these experiences just respond why AIESEC
hold the Global Citizen, and that’s what everyone in the world need to learn. Appreciate
the differences between the different.
The scenery I like the most is on
the top of lion rock in Sigiriya. What I can say is only AMAZING! I can see the
landscape till far away. With such wide eyesight and the blowing wind, I feel
free like a bird flying in the sky. As for the beach, there are so many nice ones
in Sri Lanka. For me, I like the quiet beach in Jaffna. Swimming in the warm
sea with sunset in evening becomes a nice image in my mind. When it comes to
temples, I can think of the white building with round top, the monks with
orange clothing, the pious crowd praying and the animals living around. It’s
quite surprising to see monkeys, cows, or goats walk there and fear nothing
about human.
With a month of life in Sri Lanka, I
had so much time to observe Sri Lankans. I found Sri Lankans like to smile.
Every time I have eye contact with somebody I don’t know, they just give a
smile as responds. I’m not sure that’s because I’m a foreigner or that’s just
the habit, but these smiles do let me consider Sri Lanka a friendly and warm
country. Besides, there’s a special slight shaking of their heads for
presenting the meaning of “Okay” and” So so” as a responding to others’ words.
And I think this movement is quite useful and cute.
